Through 20 graduating classes, NLCP has always represented a choice in education. Despite the 2020-2021 school year looking very different than any other school year, we knew that our scholars and families needed choices more than ever before. NLCP scholars are able to choose a safe in-person, hybrid learning model or continue with all remote learning from their home.
To accommodate both models NLCP secured computers and internet access for all students, including training, and tech support. Strict safety protocols are updated frequently based on Center for Disease Control guidelines; temperature checks for everyone entering the buildings, directional arrows in hallways ensuring that scholars and staff maintain 6ft of distance from one another. Small cohorts of students move together through the day at staggered times to prevent crowding. Desks secured to the floor ensure proper social distance in classrooms and masks are required at all times.
It has taken our entire ecosystem being involved for us to find our way back. It is working! We are proud to report that NLCP scholars are engaged at rates higher than the average CPS student and in-school attendance continues to grow at all grade levels, while our buildings have remained Covid free.
This school year more than ever, your social investment
will change lives, join us as we leave no potential on the table.
